As a manufacturer of ceramic systems of bulletproof vests, Paxis has all the technology to offer a complete solution for the production of leading ballistic systems in the world. Paxis is the Israeli leader in the production of ballistic plates used both in the personal protection of soldiers and in military vehicles.
1. Bulletproof plates are produced by the Israeli company Paxis (https://www.paxisceramics.com /) for the Belgian company Seyntex (www.seyntex.com).
2. These plates were made to order in the quantity of thousands of pieces for the Seyntex company in terms of a large contract.
3. Ballistic protection was produced in 2015. The manufacturer guarantees 15 years of storage in strictly defined conditions.
4. The plates still have 8 years of storage and 10 years of ballistic resistance, which is defined by the warranty of the manufacturer of the ballistic protection.
5. The manufacturer of the boards has ensured that they have not yet been released from the warehouse and are fully fit for use in accordance with their shelf-life and use-by dates.
The insert is made of the so-called boron carbide. In other words, it is a ceramic plate made of a material that has a hardness of 9.5 on the Mohs scale, which means that only diamond is harder than it. Boron carbide is second only to boron nitride, which is not used in ballistics due to high production costs.
The plate weighs approx. 2.5 kg, which is relatively low weight due to its resistance class and manufacturing technology (ceramics).
The geometry of the plate is Multi Curve, which means several curves in the cross-section, thanks to which we obtain an anatomical system that fits well to the body, which has a significant impact on the comfort of wearing the plates.
The sheathing of the ballistic material is made of a special material that makes the plate completely waterproof and protects the plate against UV radiation, thanks to which the storage time of the plate has been extended by the manufacturer.

Paxis ballistic protection can be classified as NIJ IV resistance class, but it was not certified by NIJ and by the Israeli ballistic laboratory of the PLASAN company (https://www.plasan.com/ballistic-laboratory/), however, according to the Israeli certification, the tests were carried out according to the NIJ 0101.04 standard. The requirements of this standard include a minimum distance between shots of 10 cm, 5 cm from the edge of the board. Ballistics was fired from a distance of 10 meters. Interestingly, the NIJ standards do not cover the entire range of former Warsaw Pact ammunition. Israeli tests included this ammunition and the plate was successful. A very important piece of information during the tests was the maximum deformation of the plate as a result of a projectile impact: from 12 to 34 mm, where in NIJ the maximum deformation is 48 mm.
In addition to good durability against Warsaw Pact calibers, i.e. 5.45 x 39 mm, 7.62 x 39 mm, 7.62 x 54R and resistance to NIJ IV, the plate offers Multishot protection, i.e. withstanding at least a few shots of given calibers a also very low deformation, which protects against the so-called blunt force trauma. Paxis - the manufacturer of the board declares that the ballistics is also intended for use in the form of Stand Alone. This is due to the certification table that defines the ICW nature of the plate in the case of protection against .30-06 Springfield ammunition. The rest of the board's rating, including 5.56 core and 7.62mm core, is in the Stand Alone categories, which means the board can be worn without any accessories. On the test recording and in the photos attached, you can see the protective effect of the plate in SA - Stand Alone conditions, i.e. without an additional soft ballistic insert or trauma falls - the plate withstood all shots, also in conditions exceeding NIJ.
